Description

Granulated beet pulp is a byproduct from the processing of sugar beet which is used as fodder for horses and other livestock. Beet pulp is the fibrous material left over after the sugar is extracted from sugar beets. This product can be stored for a long time and is therefore common in animal husbandry.

Granulated dried pulp looks like gray-green cylinders with a diameter of 8-10 mm containing up to 88% of dry matter.

Usage

In terms of nutritional value, the pulp takes an medium place between the oat and hay. It contains by 1.5 times more digestible substances than hay, and almost as much as oat. Pulp is a valuable source of fiber which is the best source of natural energy. Furthermore, beet pulp contains calcium (in sugar production, limestone is added during the extraction process).

The advantages of storing and transporting of the granulated beet pulp are recognized worldwide: sparing of space and a long storage period, as well as the possibility of transporting of bulks in a small space are important factor in cost calculation nowadays.
